Brooklyn, NY – October 24, 2008 – Precise Continental has been steadily building its reputation in the region as an environmentally-sensitive printer. And now Precise Continental is a recognized recipient of the GreenWorks Environmental Recognition Award, a special green initiative developed by Agfa Graphics.

“By investing in products that minimize our footprint on the environment and by implementing policies that effectively reduce, reuse and recycle on a daily basis, we are leading the way to a greener and brighter future in the graphic communications industry. In September 2008 we replaced our existing platemaker with Agfa’s Accento Platemaker and Azura Chemistry Free Plates,” says Jim Donnelly, president, Precise Continental. “We are honored to receive the GreenWorks Environmental Recognition Award from Agfa and will continue to keep searching for innovative ways to reduce our impact on the environment.”
Agfa, one of the world’s leading imaging and information technology companies, has bestowed the GreenWorks designation upon Precise Continental as it is a leader in environmental responsibility in this region.
The following are among the installations, implementations and policy changes at Precise Continental that led to the company’s current status as an environmental leader:

  • Installation of chemistry-free printing plates
  • Forest Steward Counsel (FSC) certification
  • Use of low-VOC and vegetable-based inks in lithography
  • Recycling of all waste paper
  • Recycling of all metal

“Many leading printers are adopting greener policies today as they realize the implications that non action will have for future generations. Precise Continental has proven that they are doing their part in many decisive ways, from the products they are using to the way they run their business day after day,” says Thomas Saggiomo, president, Agfa Graphics, North America. “We developed our GreenWorks program to support and help move environmental efforts forward, and Precise Continental has taken that cue and ran with it on its own, to an even greater achievement than we had anticipated.”
